Bells Beach '81 Thruster Finals Board

A recreation of the 6'1" Double Flyer Rounded Square Thruster that Simon rode to victory at the 1981 Bells Beach Classic. Designed to reflect the original board's look, feel and performance characteristics.

New Originals is not a replica series, but a range of boards shaped by Simon in an attempt to recreate the feel and look of the era, with very slight improvements in rocker, plan shape and rail so these boards can be surfed if you want, or displayed.

History & Performance

Bells '81 Thruster finals board 6’1 20 ¼ 2 ¾ double flyer rounded square, the small wave board of Simon's 3 board quiver for Bells 1981. 

Finals were held in 1 to 2 foot Rincon, with Simon surfing against Cheyne Horan. Simon winning a split decision to take the Bell, and win Bells for his 2nd time.
