This year I will be working hard to improve my own surfing experience by making boards that are well balanced and feel right.
From there I will be serving these developments up to you, presenting them as new models or alternatively as improved existing models.

Last year I enjoyed surfing a number of models and probably my favourite was the 6’6 XFC RSQ in all round surf in the 3 to 5 feet range.

I had a nice 7’6 vee bottom gun for the bigger days at South Av.

My best fish style board for small waves was a 6’0 21 2⅝ round tail Spudster surfed primarily as a quad.

I enjoyed a 6’4 Early Bird and 6’5 Face Dancer thru the mid part of the year for the mid-size smaller days.

At the end of the year I became enthused by a very short round nose, wider rounded square tail board that feels versatile as a thruster in beach break waves 1 to 4 feet. Keep an eye out for its release, coming soon.

I’m also working on a couple of new combinations that may also manifest as new small wave all-rounders. Cooper is testing these even as we speak.

With team it’s been a good year picking up some new guys Cooper Chapman and Riley Cadman from Narrabeen and the Brown Brothers chargers from WA Cortney and Kerby. The Brown brothers are surfing DSC, XFC and SXE models in the bigger surf on the West Coast, while Cooper is surfing XFC, Face Dancer and a few new prototype models yet to be released on the East Coast.

I had some late success with Chris Enever, also a Narrabeen team rider enjoying a Spudnick model 5’6 19 2 3/16 Swallow tail. Chris is claiming this board as the best small wave board he has had so far. So it has been pleasing to have positive feedback from not only team riders and myself but friends from my local beach and clients from many places around the globe.

I have manufacturing partners in a few areas around the world – Brazil, USA, France and Australia. We have produced good boards in 2013 and I’m excited to keep improving in 2014. I will be travelling to some of these regions this year, so look out.

Special thanks to Onboard Industries who are partners in manufacturing and distribution of Simon Boards throughout Australasia. They are doing a great job and are based at Unit 4/76 Darley Street, Mona Vale 2103. We have a showroom at this location with a lot of boards in stock with knowledgeable staff on hand who happen to be very good surfers. The best way to get the right board under your feet is hands on, feeling it and seeing it, the boys at Onboard can help you there.

I continue my association with Surftech in 2014.
We have a new epoxy style model available this year the TL Pro Carbon, keep an eye out for reviews of this product.
